A very old lady looked in the mirror one morning and she had 3 remaining hairs on her head. Being a chirpy person she said, "Oh, I think I'll braid my hair today." She put her hair in a plait and had a great day.
Some days later she was looking in the mirror and preparing for her day. She saw she only had 2 hairs remaining. "Hmm, 2 hairs. I fancy a centre part today." So she duly parted her 2 hairs and had a great day.
Sometime later she saw that she had just 1 hair left on her head. "Hmm, 1 hair. I know, a ponytail would be perfect" and she had a great day.
The next day, she looked in the mirror and she was completely bald. Finally … bald. "How wonderful! I don't have to waste time doing my hair anymore!"
Let’s switch this story back to where you are right now.
Sure, being the partner of a Fly In Fly Out worker is not the best thing in the world. It can be lonely and stressful with regular bursts of feeling isolated….. even while you live in a big city!
Having said all that, let’s think like the very old lady for a moment....Thinking about the facts of your fly in fly out circumstances, where can you find the joy?
What immediately springs to mind when you say the following sentences?
"How wonderful! I won't have to …"
"How wonderful! I don't have to …"
"How wonderful! This means I can …"
"How wonderful! this is great because I can …"
Take the time to push the negatives to the side and think about the things that are wonderful about your circumstances.
Fly in, fly out. How wonderful!
